Providing and securing the website

The hosting provider is Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. As a technical service provider, Hetzner processes the data required to provide and secure the website on the operator’s behalf.

Accessing the website involves processing technically necessary connection and access data. This may include the IP address, access time, requested page or file, volume of data transferred, browser and operating system details, and referring page where supplied by the browser. Processing enables content delivery, fault analysis and protection against misuse.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the reliable and secure provision of the website. Technical data is processed only for as long as necessary for these purposes. Where a security incident requires investigation, the data needed for that investigation may be retained until it is resolved.

Search, filters and language selection

The search function and wiki filters are processed on this portal's server. Search terms, selected letters, topics and page numbers appear in the requested URL. They may therefore appear in technical access logs together with that address. They are not sent to an external search service.

German and English are provided at separate page addresses. Switching language does not require an account or store a language preference in the browser. There is no registration, comments section or contact form.

Local content, cookies and analytics

Fonts, images, flags and scripts are loaded from this website. No external font services, video players, maps or social media feeds are embedded. The website does not set analytics or marketing cookies, use local browser storage to recognise visitors or create visitor profiles.

Contact enquiries

For email and telephone enquiries, the information supplied is processed, particularly contact details and the content of the enquiry. The purpose is to handle and answer the request. Article 6(1)(b) GDPR applies to contractual or pre-contractual enquiries. Other enquiries are processed under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on the legitimate interest in handling incoming communications.

Contact details and messages are deleted when no longer needed to handle the enquiry, unless statutory retention duties or legitimate grounds require continued storage. Technical email and telecommunications providers may process the data necessary to transmit and provide these communications.

Links to books and training lead in particular to Amazon and Team-Survival. The destination website opens only when the relevant link is followed. Processing there is governed by the respective operator's privacy information. Course bookings and book orders are not handled on this portal.

Data protection rights

Subject to the statutory conditions, rights include access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. Where processing relies on consent, consent can be withdrawn for the future. Processing based on legitimate interests may be objected to on grounds relating to the individual's particular situation.

There is also a right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, particularly in the country of habitual residence, place of work or place of the suspected infringement. For a controller based in Saxony, the Saxon Data Protection and Transparency Commissioner is a competent point of contact.
