PRMS

PRMS stands for Personnel Recovery Mission Software. This US web application supports the management of personnel and mission information for Personnel Recovery. This includes ISOPREP data for identification and authentication, together with information about intended actions during isolation. The data is kept available to the organisations planning and supporting recovery.

What information PRMS provides

An Isolated Personnel Report (ISOPREP) describes a person through identifying characteristics and other information relevant to recovery. It may include personal features, photographs, medical considerations and individual authentication information. PRMS supports collecting and storing this information.

An Evasion Plan of Action (EPA), by contrast, records mission-specific intentions: what an individual or unit intends to do if isolated, including planned evasion, signalling and communications actions. Within the US system, ISOPREP and EPA information can be made available together to support recovery coordination.

Preparation and use during isolation

Authorised personnel enter the required information before a possible isolation event. The US process provides for initial ISOPREP collection through PRMS. If the application is unavailable, a paper personnel report may be used as an exception and subsequently entered into the system.

If a person becomes isolated, staff at a Personnel Recovery Coordination Cell (PRCC) or Joint Personnel Recovery Centre (JPRC) can retrieve stored ISOPREP and EPA data for recovery forces. The information supports authentication, coordination with the person's expected actions and the care required.

Different records and functions in the US system
TermPurpose
ISOPREPPersonal information supporting identification, authentication and assistance to isolated personnel.
EPAIntentions recorded for a particular mission in the event of isolation.
PRMSA web application managing personnel and mission information relevant to recovery.
PRMMPersonnel Recovery Mission Manager: a tool bringing together information about a PR event and its handling.
PRC2Personnel Recovery Command and Control: the Personnel Recovery command and control system of which PRMS is a part.

PRMM brings together information relating to the PR tasks Report, Locate, Support, Recover and Reintegrate. A personnel record can be combined with other information about the isolation event and recovery to form a mission file. This file supports planning, execution and review of the recovery.
